AMBE UNDER FIRE FOR PATRIOTIC CALL

For the past few days, Ambe has come under fire for calling out Cameroonian Diaspora. The reaction from social media users regarding Ambe’s statements about Cameroonian and Nigerian music seems far from ending.

Ambe who is currently in America thinks Cameroonians don’t support their own. Ambe has been in America for some time now, he has performed and headlined a couple of shows there too. He has however observed something that doesn’t go well with him, especially as a musician that he is.

Ambe went to Nigerian night clubs and they played 95% Naija songs. He went to Cameroonian nightclubs and they played 70% Nigerian songs with the remaining 30% being Ivorian and American songs. That means he didn’t listen to any Cameroonian songs in those nightclubs. Being the artiste that he is, it’s normal for him to complain and call for more support from fellow compatriots.

His outings didn’t sit well in the head of fellow Cameroonians and some Nigerians as they have been calling him names. Others say he should do good music while others say Ambe as an artist is a failure.

Some have pointed to his inconsistency being the reason why they turn to listen to and support Nigerian artists.

One would think Ambe is the only artist in Cameroon but in reality, there are so many good and consistent artists. Artists that have dedicated time to improve and produce the best songs that will stand the test of time.

Ambe might not be consistent but his call wasn’t about him alone. It was for all Cameroonian artists that are putting in their best. Those that deserve maximum respect and support for their discography and the kind of songs they’ve released over the years.

Ambe has however stood his ground and he believes Cameroonians can do better in supporting and promoting their culture through them as artists or better still, cultural ambassadors.

Even if you’re not supporting Ambe because he isn’t consistent? Support hardworking artists like Rinyu, Magasgo, Tenor, Locko, Charlotte Dipanda, Jovi, Tata, Asaba, etc. The list is long and their songs are out there.

Every industry’s growth is reliant on the role of the diaspora population because they have the finances and are better placed to make their artists go global. Nigeria, Ghana, Ivory Coast, and South Africa are common examples.

It’s also worth mentioning that Ambe has been working on some new music too. He shared behind the scene photos of a video in the US.
